We are located on the high street of Hahndorf, occupying a high profile corner block of the Adelaide Hill’s most well-known town. Hahndorf is classified as Australia’s oldest surviving German settlement and one of South Australia’s most popular towns, with over 1 million visitors per year. Its charm lies in its village feel and the original German and heritage buildings that line the streets alongside the 100 year old elm and plane trees. While the town retains its strong heritage, there is an increasing number of chic and exciting new businesses emerging – including the three winery cellar doors directly opposite us, the salmon smokehouse and the artisan chocolate maker to name a few. These additions have complemented the existing array of well-established offerings, such as the original Beerenberg strawberry farm, galleries and historic pubs. Hahndorf is not only a premium holiday destination, but also a jewel in the crown of the Adelaide Hills’ food and wine bowl. Its appeal also lies in its accessibility and close proximity to Adelaide, just an easy 20 minute drive from the CBD of Adelaide.

When we’re not in Covid-19 times, our staff take visiting customers through free guided cheese tastings from 10am to 4pm daily. Our Udder Delights cheese is always featured in the daily cheese selection, alongside other regional produce.

We can cater for groups in our underground cellar with a pre booked ‘Cheese Flight‘ or ‘Cheese Masterclass’. These are private sessions where seating is provided for all participants and includes 4 cheeses, condiments, local crackers and a glass of premium Adelaide Hills Wine per person.
A ‘Cheese Flight‘ is hosted by a staff member who gives a 15 minute presentation, and costs $30 per head. For a more in depth experience, you can book a ‘Cheese Masterclass‘ with cheese maker and business owner Sheree Sullivan who will give a 1 hour presentation, and costs $60 per head.
They can be booked to start between 10am and 3pm. During weekdays the minimum booking is 10 people, during weekends the minimum booking is 15 people. The maximum number we can cater for is 28 people due to the size of our cellar.

Udder Delights founding cheese maker, Sheree Sullivan, teaches these popular classes on a Saturday in our underground cellar. It’s a fun, informative & social occasion where participants get to learn lots and eat lots too! Each participant takes home the feta they’ve made, armed with the knowledge of how to make Ricotta, Camembert and Marinated Feta by themselves. The cheese making classes continue to grow in demand, being booked out 3 months in advance. We can fit 14 people per session, it costs $190 per person, and includes a cheese and wine masterclass as well as other yummy goodies.

Our Cheese Fondue was created to complement the chilly Hills winter and create a convivial sharing atmosphere. We make our own concoction on site using a traditional Swiss recipe and serve it in vintage and traditional fondue pots. Each cheese fondue comes with fresh Hills pear, locally made Kabana, our baby balsamic pickled onions, cornichons and hot toasted ciabatta rolls; they cost $49 for 2 people. This offering is now so popular, we serve it all year round.

We cook everything on site for our delicious High Tea, or source it from local producers. The high tea menu includes our Goat Curd & Caramelised Onions Pastries, our Adelaide Hills Brie with Quince Paste & Baylies Crackers, Cellar made Adelaide Hills tasty cheddar tart with Kanmantoo Bacon, Raspberry Cheesecake, Orange & Cardamom Cake and Dark Chocolate Roast Almond Splinters and Macarons. Each person also gets a glass of Hills Sparkling Wine and Barossa Scullery Made Tea.
Our High Teas are increasingly popular for birthdays, bridal showers and baby showers – and are held in our underground cellar for large groups. High Teas are run at $45 per person.

Being located in the centre of a wine region, and with the steady rise of winery weddings our cheese cakes are becoming increasingly popular. We provide a complimentary consultation with each customer to ensure that each couple gets an individually tailored cake of cheese that they absolutely adore. Hosted by our cheese cellar manager, couples are personally taken through a platter of different cheese options and ideas, while enjoying complimentary refreshments, tailoring an ideal solution for their individual needs. Most of our couples choose to pick their own cake up and assemble it on the day, however we also offer a delivery and assembly service. The average price of one of our Cheese Wedding Cakes is $400, many couples will also choose to add on local crackers and condiments to serve with their cake on the big day.

Our store obviously has a cheese focus, however we have worked hard at also stocking it with delicious food, desirable items and hard to find treasures. Some of our favourite things are the Truffle Salts and Oils, Hills Honeycomb and McLaren Vale produced Pork Terrines and Duck Rillettes.
We also have a great selection of Udder Delights branded knives, hand crafted recycled timber cheese boards, cheese related kitchenware and convenient fridge bags which are very popular with our customers.

Our menu is for food lovers who want to have a taste of South Australia. We have created a selection of ‘Boards’ where we’ve matched delicious flavor combinations.
We also serve our own house made soup and cakes which we’ve carefully made onsite by our dedicated cooks, as well as skillfully made coffee using organic beans and milk, and Adelaide Hills wine, beer and cider.
We value a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere which we believe compliments our approach to food – and simply letting the produce speak for itself.

At $300/kg, and only available in 500g rounds, the Udder Delights King Saul Raw Blue Cheese is not accessible to everyone. So we created an affordable option for two people to share a platter of it for $49 per couple. We have paired the King Saul with Riverland muscatels, crispy sweet Tortas, sparkling water and our own barrel aged port for the ultimate eating pleasure – a ‘raw experience’ of this exciting new icon.
